Budget transcription around the reset day

A monthly allowance follows a service cycle that may differ from your calendar month.

Use a calendar with real sessions

Estimate transcription demand from scheduled events rather than a single monthly average. Put recurring sessions on a calendar, then add an occasional workshop, interview or long review. Keep recording time and material you intend to transcribe as separate totals. A recorder can collect more audio than you need to process. Deciding which sessions actually require text is often more useful than choosing a plan from the largest imaginable month.

Find the reset boundary

Plaud’s current guidance for app v3.30.x or earlier says included minutes reset on the plan’s renewal date, with no rollover of unused minutes. Check your account rather than assuming the first day of the month. Two busy weeks on opposite sides of that boundary create a different planning problem from the same sessions falling within one cycle. Keep the reset date beside the allowance when estimating capacity for a project.

Count retries separately

The same guidance distinguishes recording from transcription, while Plaud’s workflow guide says re-transcribing consumes minutes and replaces the current output. Set aside a margin for a language-setting error or a recording that needs another pass. Before retrying, preserve any useful corrections and check whether manual editing would solve the issue. Reprocessing an entire long session to repair one name can be a poor use of both allowance and attention.

Make a change when the pattern is clear

Track a couple of complete service cycles using your actual sessions and the account’s displayed balance. Note why a top-up or upgrade would have been necessary, and whether that event is recurring. Compare current regional prices only when you are ready to decide; old launch pricing is a weak basis for an ongoing budget. The useful plan gives predictable access for the work you repeatedly do, with an understandable response to an unusually busy week.
