Control guide

Rehearse three controls before leaving home

A short control routine makes smart glasses easier to manage during an ordinary day.

In this article
  1. Choose the three that protect the routine
  2. Use the product tour as a reference
  3. Separate adjustment from commands
  4. Revisit after a meaningful change

Choose the three that protect the routine

Start with stopping playback, ending the task you have begun and turning the glasses off. These controls matter even if you rarely use the assistant or camera. Look them up for the exact frame and software version. Draw a small control map if the gestures are unfamiliar. Practice in a quiet place where an unintended command is easy to notice and has no effect on somebody else’s conversation.

Use the product tour as a reference

Ray-Ban’s current FAQ explains how to revisit the product tour in its companion app. Use the tour to resolve uncertainty instead of remembering a gesture from a different generation or an online demonstration. Then close the instructions and repeat the action yourself. The difference between recognizing a control on a screen and finding it while wearing the frame is precisely what this small rehearsal is intended to expose.

Separate adjustment from commands

Put the glasses on, settle the frame and make an intentional control movement. Notice where your fingers naturally land when you straighten an arm or remove the glasses. If those movements overlap, slow down while learning and check the resulting state. Do not add more shortcuts until the basic actions are predictable. A short set of familiar gestures can be more useful than a large collection whose effects you have to check every time.

Revisit after a meaningful change

Repeat the routine after changing a control assignment, moving to another frame or installing an update that changes the relevant behavior. Record the setting you selected and the task it serves. There is no need to rehearse the entire feature list on every update; concentrate on the controls you actually depend on. When the device fails to respond as expected, stop and consult the instructions rather than repeating an uncertain gesture in a sensitive setting. Familiarity should make the visible state easier to understand.
